Front Porch Update

I don’t have a porch, per se, but I do have some space in the front of my house that’s somewhat private thanks to a shade tree.  I chose this spot for my grandparent’s swinging bench and had been waiting for the weather to turn so I could put out flowers & cushions for the swing.

I love these cushions that came from Home Depot in January – they were $1 each.  I’ll be moving a larger planter on the right side and adding a few more colorful pots. These two were $1 and $5 on various sales and match the cushions. I’m thinking of white and purple flowers for the pots and the planter.

There are a few flowers coming up in this planter box but I’ll probably fill in with a few more.

update on the update!

After a trip out to Home Depot and then Wal-Mart I’m just about done with the flowers! I found two more containers and used the old wood one with the dead hydrangeas in it. I just washed the dirt off my hands so I’ll have to grab the little stakes and tell you what all the flowers are later. But here are some pics:

Kelly, your porch is lovely, homey and classy at the same time. I really love the glider; that’s on my wish list for someday. . .

I love your progress! I think it would look even cuter if you took the seat and moved it at an angle, instead of flat against the fence. Then, cluster a couple pots on each side of it, plus a little one (yellow flower?) up on the table. Do you think you would like that? You lose a teeny bit of space in the triangle behind the seating, but you could put a tall something behind it. I think it would be super pleasing to the eye. :)

This looks so nice. I would suggest something bright on the fence and agree with the angled swing with maybe the tall hibiscus or yellow grass behind. If that doesn’t work, try flowers on an old card table behind the swing.

Thanks for the suggestions, all! There is a gate along the left side of the bench that prevents slanting the bench seat.
